05/06/2010 - Munich, Germany (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Top-seeded Croat Marin Cilic was a hard-fought second-round winner Thursday at the clay-court BMW Open, a French Open tune-up.

The Aussie Open semifinalist Cilic had to come from behind to beat German crowd favorite Simon Greul 6-7 (6-8), 6-2, 7-5 at MTTC Iphitos. Cilic topped another German, Michael Berrer, here on Wednesday.

Cilic needed 2 hours, 31 minutes to hold off a game Greul, who could manage only one break of serve in the tough setback.

The world No. 11 Cilic will face sixth-seeded Spaniard Nicolas Almagro in Friday's quarterfinals. Almagro held off South African Kevin Anderson 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (7-5) on Day 5 here.

Two other seeds reached the round of eight, as fourth-seeded former champion Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany drilled Spaniard Santiago Ventura 6-2, 6-1 and fifth-seeded former Aussie Open runner-up Marcos Baghdatis handled Swiss Marco Chiudinelli 6-3, 6-4.

Kohlschreiber and the Cypriot Baghdatis will do battle here on Friday.

The other quarterfinals will pit second-seeded 2009 Munich runner-up Mikhail Youzhny against Czech Jan Hajek and third-seeded and defending BMW titlist Tomas Berdych versus German Philipp Petzschner. Berdych beat Youzhny in last year's finale here. Youzhny was also a runner-up at this event in 2007, losing to Kohlschreiber.

Owens broke the bone leading to his right ring finger Sunday night and had a plate surgically attached to it Monday.
