FSU grooming Proctor for interim athletic director role

10/26/2007 - Tallahassee, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Florida State University named Dr. William L. Proctor as special assistant to the president for athletics, a newly created, temporary position.

The new position was created to provide for Proctor's transition into the role of interim athletics director upon the departure of Dave Hart, FSU's current athletics director.

In a separation agreement signed Thursday, Hart and the university agreed to sever ties on December 31, 2007.

"I look forward to serving President (T.K.) Wetherell and my alma mater in this important role," said Proctor.

Under his agreement, Proctor will not be considered a candidate for the permanent athletics director position.

"Bill Proctor is the perfect person for this assignment, based upon his strong financial management skills and his impeccable academic credentials," Wetherell said. "His leadership will be invaluable as we work through athletics-academic issues with the NCAA."
