Garcia is 10-7 with a 3.16 earned run average in his first season with the Yankees. New York also claimed pitcher Aaron Laffey off waivers from the Seattle Mariners. The 24-year-old Smoak was hit in the face by a ball on a bad-hop grounder in the second inning of Friday's game.
